Walnut Furniture Set

Warm tones of the walnut wood really show in these massive pieces of furniture.

The furniture set, consisting of a dining table, living room TV wall installation and bedroom TV-wall installation/drawer, links the different rooms of the newly built house together. The dark walnut wood really catches the eye and adds some warmth to the otherwise very modern and minimalistic interior and marble floors.

The pieces of furniture were designed by interior architect Jonna Röynä from IceDesign, and we modified the drawings and measurements a little bit to make the final plan for execution.

When fine-tuning the measurements, we wanted to make the furniture emphasise the taller-than-average room height. The living room TV wall installation was fitted into a 4-meter room height and sloped ceiling in a way that the wooden elements and the gaps between them have a nice, harmonious rhythm. We sought after a similar, harmonious rhythm also in the measurements of the full-height TV wall installation/drawer in the bedroom. This way the big TV screens don’t take over the space, which was essentially the starting point for the wall installation design by Jonna.

In both of the wall elements, we used waterfall joints because we wanted the grain to continue seamlessly over the joint. The continuous look is not ruined by cables or other items, as they can be neatly hidden in the furniture.

The 2,4 meter long dining table combines a massive leg structure and center beam with a 2-centimeter thick glass top that makes the whole appearance lighter.

Walnut has a beautiful brown color, so we just treated it with clear oil wax to bring out the grain. We would like to see even more walnut used in interiors, since it is very pleasant material to work on and it can be made into very impressive installations, if you want your furniture to have color – and a little bit of dramatic flair 🙂
